When hiring a food truck to cater your wedding, business luncheon, charity event, photo shoot or family reunion, you want to know you’re getting great food. LA is fortunate to have scores of gourmet food trucks on the streets and catering delicious meals that your guests will love. But there are several things to consider before setting a date and signing a contract.
Vehicle Reliability: When meeting with a potential food truck caterer, be sure to ask about his or her on-time and reliability record. Has the truck ever missed or been late to a catering assignment because of vehicle problems? Has the food truck ever broken down, and if so, did it impact a catered event? If this has happened more than twice in a couple of years, consider another service provider.
Staff You Can Count On: Every food truck is staffed with a team of food service professionals. Some may be newbies to the industry. Others may be long-time veterans. Ask your potential food truck operator about the catering team’s experience and reliability. Have many events have they catered in the past few months? Are staffers timely and reliable on the job?
Double Duty: Will the caterer work any other events on the same day or at the same time as yours? If the caterer appears to be overbooked, you may want to talk to some other gourmet food trucks to ensure you’ll get first-class attention. Also, ask exactly who will be working at your party before signing an agreement.
Food Tasting: Will the caterer arrange a food tasting of the menu that interests you? If you’ve not worked with this food truck before, you’ll want to taste exactly what your guests will be eating at your special event.
References: Ask for at least two references that hosted events with approximately the same number of guests and the same type of menu as the event you are planning.
